The Rock Drawings on the hill of Hilia at the village of Goniko

Goniko, Soufli in Evros, Greece
Close to the Pomak village of Goniko from the prefecture of Evros, further from the villages of Derio and Rousa, is the hill of Hilia where two rock drawings from 1100 B.C. have been found. With their carvings they seem to confirm the legend that the Orphis inhabited these lands.
Among the fifteen carved drawings are dancing and praying scenes, as well as pictures of birds,  popular for the secret Thracian communities, and a lot more such as huge phalluses. All this forms a large picture sized 5 x 5m. The most striking element in at least three of the scenes is the picture of a cross. Its appearance here is dated 1500 years before adopting Christianity.
The mentioned rock drawings were discovered for history by the archaeologist Diamandis Triandafilos three decades ago while the inhabitants of the region had marveled at them for three millennia.
